Gaia Consulting is a boutique consulting firm with a focus on the fields of energy, environment and sustainability dedicated to helping businesses, cooperation partners, governments and civil society in Sub-Saharan Africa in changing their narrative towards unlocking a more sustainable future. Gaia is known as “Earth Mother”; therefore, gender empowerment and social inclusion is a cross-cutting theme in our path to change the world.

We took inspiration in naming our business after Gaia theory. Everything in nature is interconnected and Earth is a self-regulating system, with living organisms and the physical environment working together to maintain conditions that are favourable for life.

Gaia theory explains that the Earth's temperature is regulated by a complex system of feedback loops, which help to maintain a stable climate. Climate action involves reducing human-induced greenhouse gas emissions that are causing global warming, which disrupts the natural feedback loops and causes an imbalance in the Earth's climate system. By understanding the feedback mechanisms that help to regulate the Earth's temperature, and how human activities are disrupting these mechanisms, we can take action to reduce our carbon emissions and help the Earth maintain a stable climate. Gaia theory highlights the interconnectedness of all living and non-living systems on Earth, and the need for a holistic approach to climate action that takes into account the complex interactions between these systems. By taking such an approach, we can work towards a more sustainable and resilient future for both people and the planet.
